In a recent development, the North Manheim Township Authority has secured a significant low-interest loan of over $2.3 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for the extension of their sewer system to 55 new properties on Garfield Avenue. This funding was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Sen. Dave Argall (R-29), Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123), and township officials.

Sen. Dave Argall expressed his satisfaction with the funding, stating, "We’ve made incredible progress cleaning up the Schuylkill River thanks to strong community partnerships." He also highlighted the environmental benefits of the project, noting, "This state funding will remove a source of pollution, while also improving water service for many Schuylkill County families."

Rep. Tim Twardzik emphasized the long-term impact of the investment, saying, "This investment not only addresses the immediate need for improved sewage infrastructure but also contributes to the long-term health of our community and the Schuylkill River." Twardzik further underscored the commitment to resident welfare, stating, "This initiative underscores our commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents."

The project, enabled by the funding, will involve the installation of 4,800 feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer, 30 precast concrete manholes, laterals, and cleanouts. These improvements are crucial as the properties currently rely on septic systems, with a significant portion experiencing failures that lead to sewage contamination in the Schuylkill River.

Jim Brugger from Sen. Argall's office and Will Jones from Rep. Twardzik's office are the designated contacts for further information on this significant development.
