Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming) will be hosting a special event called Hoagies for Heroes, dedicated to honoring first responders and their families from the 83rd District. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 15, from 5-8 p.m. at the Loyalsock Fire Hall in Williamsport.

"I have deep respect for the first responder community in our area. Our first responders give so much time and energy to ensure our safety when emergency strikes. I wanted to provide an opportunity for them to gather together with their families and enjoy a meal," expressed Flick.

In addition to the upcoming event, Flick has been actively involved in advocating for the health and well-being of firefighters. He recently co-sponsored House Bill 1492, which focuses on providing free cancer screenings for firefighters. Flick emphasized the importance of these screenings, stating, "Firefighters face a 9% increase in cancer diagnoses, and a 14% increase in cancer-related deaths, compared to the general public. This is a wake-up call that our firefighter and emergency responders need earlier cancer screenings to help protect them while they protect us. These screenings should be yearly and free."

To register for the Hoagies for Heroes event, interested individuals can visit repflick.com/events. For more details on House Bill 1492 or any inquiries, Flick's district office can be reached at 570-321-1270.

The initiative by Rep. Jamie Flick serves as a platform to express gratitude and support for the dedicated first responders in the community, recognizing their vital role in ensuring public safety.
